I spent 14 years on the operational side of manufacturing. Field work, mostly. Quality systems, data infrastructure, the kind of work where you're present when owners make decisions because you're the person who has to execute them.

I wasn't in a marketing department. I wasn't positioning anything. I was solving problems that mattered because not solving them meant something tangible broke—a shipment missed, a compliance violation, a customer relationship ended.

For the last three years of that, I was the person in every room who happened to understand what AI was and what it could do. Not because I was a technology expert—I'm not—but because I'd spent enough time learning the tools to see what actually worked and what didn't.
